Georgetown Vineyard

This 1.5 ha vineyard at the end of the Kawarau gorge in Cromwell, Central Otago is the dream of Ian Dee. The vines are planted low and close, emulating a Burgundian style and drawing the best from the soils in this vineyard.

The close planting forces roots deeper, allowing a greater nutrient resource to be concentrated in the exceptionally low yield. The low vines allow for heat reflected from the ground to impart greater flavours into the grape skins. The result is restrained, complex and incredibly elegant wines.

“A labour of love, the incredible microclimate and soils at the end of Kawarau Gorge are producing remarkable wines.” – Ian Dee, Owner & Winemaker
